The Sow the Seed team have finished writing some five Junior Science units of work. These units are designed for either Junior Science or Agricultural and Horticultural Science at Level 3/4 of the New Zealand curriculum. They will introduce students to the world of primary production in New Zealand. Students will delve into primary production processes, explore the life processes of plants, and examine various management techniques used in primary production settings. The work aims to foster an understanding of the scientific principles behind Agricultural and Horticultural Science within the scope of primary production and develop practical skills for students to succeed in this field.

This five lesson programme challenges year 9-11 students to research a real problem within the context of the primary industries. This cross curricular teacher led resource has strong links to Level 4 and 5 of the science, technology, social sciences and English learning areas. Each term, teams can submit digital entries into a nationwide inter-school competition and be in to win up to $250.
